, not least as it and other travel brands attempt to navigate their way through what is expected to be unpredictable recovery process in the travel industry during 2021.
The company has signaled that a significant part of its recovery strategy will be the
introduction of its Plus initiative
.
The subscription-based program is free for accommodation suppliers to join, while travelers can sign up for an annual membership fee of $99 and get access to savings as well as other offers.
Touted as a win-win-win for Tripadvisor, partner hotels and travelers, Plus is one of the most high-profile subscription programs yet introduced in the travel sector.
It's early days for Plus, but Tripadvisor is openly very confident about the prospects for the initiative, especially if consumers stick with their subscriptions once the travel recovery period settles down and they begin to look elsewhere for bookings for accommodations and other services.
Lindsay Nelson, Tripadvisor's chief experience and brand officer, explains why the program came together now, how the early stages have worked out with partner hotels and lots more.
