Planet expands hospitality footprint with three acquisitions

Hospitality software and payments services provider Planet has acquired three hotel software distributors: Ideosoft , Rebagdata and XN PMS Limited . The terms of the deals were not disclosed.

London-based Planet says it acquired Protel in March 2022 to extend its reach in the hotel industry. The three companies it just acquired all re-sell Protel software to customers in Europe.

“We’re continuing to invest in growing our hospitality business and cementing our leading position in the market as a provider of connected commerce solutions that enhance the guest experience and generate more revenue for hoteliers,” says Lennert De Jong, Planet's president of hospitality who joined the company in September after 16 years at CitizenM.

“We’re giving hotels the tools to deliver an excellent experience for guests who are looking to take full advantage of the recovery in visitor numbers following a challenging few years.”

Customers of the three companies acquired by Planet will benefit directly from the wider range of payments, software and services through Planet’s network, the company says.

Planet says it has more than 2,800 employees located across six continents. The company previously acquired vacation rental management service Avantio for an undisclosed sum in July 2022.
