Captain Experiences
, a platform for booking outdoor sports guides, has snagged $2 million in its latest funding round, bringing its total capital raised to more than $4.6 million.
The round was led by consumer investment fund Bullish, with participation from new and existing investors.
“At Captain, our mission is to unlock the outdoors, using technology as a means to an end to minimize screens and maximize life,” Captain’s CEO Jonathan Newar says.

On Captain’s website, prospective customers can search for a trip, read verified reviews and book with guides according to their real-time availability. The company says its platform “helps people find and book fishing trips quickly, easily and with a process they can trust.”
Since launching in 2020, Captain says it has partnered with more than 1,200 vetted guides. While the Austin, Texas-based startup is currently catering to the fishing and hunting verticals, it plans to expand across all outdoor sports and geographies.
“In just a few short years, we’ve substantiated Captain’s position as the largest platform for booking fishing guides in the U.S.,” Newar says. “This financing allows our team to double down on growth within fishing across the U.S. and beyond, while also building upon our recent success launching hunting in Texas this past fall.”
Captain is the most recent addition to Bullish’s portfolio of consumer brands including eyeglass retailer Warby Parker and interactive fitness platform Peloton, among others.
“We believe Captain can become the expert global outdoor sports platform,” says Michael Duda, managing partner at Bullish.
