Operto adds digital key capabilities with acquisition of STAYmyway

Operto Guest Technologies , a specialist in hotel and rentals automation, has acquired digital access company STAYmyway for an undisclosed amount.

Spain-based STAYmyway announced an exclusive partnership with Accor for the group’s Accor Key program last year, and Operto now plans to accelerate the rollout of the digital key program.

STAYmyway, which was founded in 2014, also offers solutions enabling older locks to be upgraded to Bluetooth-enabled locks without the need to replace the original lock or door.

The technology, which also enables hotels and property managers to check in guests digitally before they arrive, will now be known as Operto Boost.

With the ability to reuse and upgrade existing hardware, at a fraction of the normal replacement cost, we are also helping operators meaningfully lower their carbon footprint and keep perfectly good hardware out of the landfill.”

Canada-based Operto raised $12 million earlier this year and said the funds would go toward expansion into other accommodation verticals as well as product development.

Last year, the company acquired VRScheduler , which provides property management tools including booking and distribution for vacation rentals.
