RateGain dances away with acquisition of DHISCO

Hotel distribution service DHISCO is now part of the RateGain family following an acquisition of the company for an undisclosed fee.

The deal is being touted as a move to "provide the industry the most comprehensive travel and hospitality technology distribution platform," the pair's respective CEOs say in a letter to customers.

DHISCO has spent the last three years attempting to solidify its position following the split between it and reservation system provider Pegasus, where it operated originally under the THISCO name.

CEO and executive chairman Toni Portmann says the period included a overhaul of the tech stack and new distribution services, giving it connections to more 450 hotel groups worldwide, 123 online travel agencies and the three main global distribution systems.

Some 500,000 properties are listed in the system.

RateGain gains

The addition of DHISCO to the RateGain portfolio pushes the latter further into the distribution world following its early forays into what CEO Bhanu Chopra calls "long tail distribution channels," covering over 600 online travel agencies in Asia and the Middle East.

RateGain also provides distribution for smaller hotel groups as well as airlines, car rental companies, cruise lines, tour operators and wholesalers.

"This is a great fit with DHISCO's dominance in distribution to large global channels," the customer letter says.

RateGain was created in 2004 and now counts around 12,000 customers around the world using its combination of revenue management, business intelligence and brand engagement services.

The letter continues:

"RateGain is backed by TA Associates, thus the combined company’s focus will be to continue to deliver on advancements in products and services; with the end goal remaining the same: to drive YOUR success.

"Your business development and client account management teams will remain the same and DHISCO and RateGain will work on integration plans to capitalize on product plans and strategies building on the strength of both companies."

Pegasus has recently been talking up an apparent return to the fore after itself going through some major reworking internally and on its reservation platform following the split from what became DHISCO.
